(*A) What are Built-in Lock-Off(s)?
Built-in lock-offs are devices that are designed into the seat shell of a convertible car seat and the base of an infant carrier that allow you to “pre-crash” lock the vehicle seat belts.Since built-in lock-offs are meant to be used with vehicle seat belts, the lock-offs are located in the vehicle belt path areas on the child seat. Some seats, such as convertible car seats, have both rear-facing lock-offs and forward-facing lock-offs.The lock-offs literally clamp down or hold the vehicle seat belt in place until the vehicle seat belt has to do its job.
(*B) What is an Anti-Rebound Bar?
An Anti-Rebound Bar stabilizes a child seat by minimizing rotational forces associated with front and rear collisions. The Anti-Rebound Bar is connected to the in-car base of the infant carrier. The infant carrier may be installed in a vehicle without the base, however the base must be installed in order to receive the benefit of the Anti-Rebound Bar. An Anti-Rebound Bar is used to stabilize the car seat in the event of a collision, significantly reducing the distance it will rotate and preventing the childs head from contacting the back of the vehicle seat. The Anti-Rebound Bar is connected to the car seat base, forming a rigid "L" shape that rests against the bottom and back cushions of a vehicle seat. This "L" shape acts as a physical barrier preventing the car seat from rotating toward the vehicle seat back during a front or rear collision. The Anti-Rebound Bar was designed, developed, and patented by Britax and introduced into the US market with the launch of the Companion Infant Carrier in 2004.
(*C) What are Premium Push-Button Lower LATCH Connectors?
Premium LATCH connectors refer to the push-button lower connectors found on Britax child seats that allow you to install the seat into the vehicle using the LATCH system. The connectors are part of the child seat LATCH system that attaches to the lower LATCH anchor in your vehicle. An audible click can be heard when the connector is securely attached into place. LATCH stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children. All passenger vehicles and child seats manufactured after September 1, 2002, are required to have special anchors for attaching the child seat directly to the vehicle rather than securing the child seat with the vehicle’s seat belt.
